BEAUTY | DIY: Homemade Lemon and Sugar Face Scrub

Laurina Machite South African Beauty Blogger Homemade Lemon and Sugar Face Scrub

I don’t normally have issues with my skin. But when I do, it looks horrible. My skin was looking extra horrible a couple of weeks ago, exams were on the horizon and stress was hitting me hard and you could tell by the way my skin was reacting. Instead of rushing to the store and picking up the first face wash that promised to work wonders I decided to turn to my kitchen instead, the results were amazing!

I’ve been using natural products on my skin for as long as I can remember. I truly believe that if it is good and healthy enough to consume then it is most likely good enough for your face too. And plus, you can always eat the leftovers :). I used the face scrub only once and noticed results right away. My skin looked and felt smoother and the dead skin that been lingering on my temple for a while seemed to have miraculously disappeared. Follow the instructions below on how to make the lemon and sugar face scrub, try it out and let me know how it works for you.

Honey and olive oil are both optional. If you choose to add either one make sure you are not adding too much to melt the sugar. If you feel like you may have accidentally added too many of the liquid ingredients or that you haven’t made enough scrub simply add a bit more sugar.

How to Use It:

To use as a face scrub, remove all the makeup on your face and cleanse it thoroughly. Apply the scrub onto your face and using circular motions scrub the skin gently. Make sure not to scrub too hard as the skin on your face can be very sensitive. You can, however, scrub  a little harder on your temple to remove dead skin cells. If you wish, you can cut the lemon up into smaller pieces and tip it into the scrub, you can then use the scrub covered lemon to gently exfoliate the skin.
