Summer is here! Well, not quite yet, but it’s close enough. Below I have listed top five must-have beauty products you will need to keep hydrated, protected and beautiful throughout this upcoming summer.

Sunscreen

This may seem like an obvious one. But it really isn’t to most people. Sunscreen is super important if you want to keep your skin protected from the sun and help it keep its youthful, supple and glowing look and feel. Don’t try to brave the outdoor UV rays without applying sunscreen or sunblock this summer.

Be sure to come back tomorrow as I will be listing down things you need to consider when picking out the right level of SPF for your skin type. You too my people of colour (we all need it!). Subscribe to the blog to receive a notification on this upcoming post so you do’t miss a thing.

Vaseline

Vaseline is the mother of all multipurpose beauty products! It is my absolute favourite beauty product of all time, hands down! Our harsh summer sun can often dry our skin out and Vaseline is essential for those ashy elbows and knees (and lips as well of course). And with the amount of skin we expose to the sun during summer? It is beyond essential. Ashy skin is never okay and now that I have told you about this solution? You have no excuse.

Apart from it’s obvious moisture benefits, did you know that Vaseline can aid in thickening and elongating your eyelashes? Yeah, that’s right. Applying Vaseline to your eyelashes every night before bed will help make your eyelashes longer and thicker within two weeks!

A Body Brush

Using a body brush on your body has many benefits. Using long, sweeping motions starting from your feet and working your way up to your heart stimulates circulation and does wonders for your body. Many of the benefits include:

  • stimulating your lymphatic system and eliminating waste
  • exfoliating the skin and eliminating dead skin cells
  • reducing the appearance of cellulite
  • relieving stress

Setting Spray

My skin gets super oily during the summer and tends to ruin my makeup (the few times I do wear it) and make it run. Because of this I bought this finishing spray I was referred to by a friend of mine and all I can say is: WOW!

Not only is it super inexpensive, it really works! My makeup lasts longer and my skin has the perfect matte finish throughout the day, that normally only lasts a couple of hours when I leave the house with makeup on sans the spray. If you have similar problems or just want your makeup to last longer I highly recommend this product.

Water!

Didn’t think you were going to escape this did you? Whilst water might not necessarily be a beauty product it is by far the most essential single item on this list. Keeping yourself hydrated during the summer has many benefits for your skin and body.

Some of the very many benefits of drinking lots of water and staying hydrated are:

  • keeps you looking young and fresh
  • reduces chances of getting a heart attack
  • increases your metabolism
  • aids with weight loss

There you have it! Top 5 Essential Summer Beauty Products that I feel will make your summer a little more beautiful.
