Foundation and lip products are often the very first things I try out when testing out a new beauty brand, so I was super excited when presented with the opportunity to try out the Avon True Power Stay 24hr Foundation and Avon True Power Stay 16hr Lip Colour.
With 15 shades to choose from, Avon’s Power Stay foundation promises a long-wear, waterproof matte finish that provides all-day coverage and needs no touch-ups. I put this foundation to the ultimate test the first day I wore it out to the gender-based violence march I attended last week. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the foundation immediately dried out matte after applying it on, but did not leave my face feeling cakey or stiff in the process.
I would highly recommend using a hydrating moisturizer as a base for your skin for both dry and oily skin before applying the foundation. It left me feeling confident enough to hug my fellow marchers (we all needed a hug or two) with the confidence of knowing I wouldn’t be leaving my foundation stains as a permanent mark on their clothing.
With a slightly runny consistency, the Avon True Power Stay Foundation allows you to blend with ease while giving you the ability to take your time without having to worry too much about the foundation drying out during the process.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the first touch up you’d have to do (if any) is probably around the six-hour mark. For someone with oily skin, this is amazing. I have put foundations on in the past that have required touch-ups before my setting spray has even dried up!
The only thumbs-down I would give this foundation would have to be the shade range. Though the shades available come in a variety of undertones, I would have loved to see more of a variety to choose from to give you that perfect match. Other than that the foundation gets a thumbs up from me and especially because the price tag is so appealing.
It is currently on sale for R179.90 on the Avon South Africa site (usually retails for R209.90), and if that’s not an excellent price then I don’t know what is! I would hurry up and cop that foundation now girl before prices go back to normal, I say it’s totally worth it.
The Avon True Powestay Lip Colour is the second product I tested out from Avon and wow. I have to admit I have been sleeping on this brand. I feel like we all have! The creamy long-wear lip colour comes in 10 vibrant shades that promise no fading, no cracking and no smudging.
I had the matte lip colour on for over 6hours and the colour went nowhere, it did not budge even after having dinner and after my cup-test (in the video). I swatched part of the range below on my hand and had quite a hard time removing the lip colour after pictures had been taken. If you are looking for a vibrant colour to finish off your makeup look and give you that extra boost of confidence then I would highly suggest giving this range a try. The lip colours are currently retailing for R119.90 (normal retail price is R189.90) on the Avon South Africa site.
