“Having a closet filled with neutrals is having a closet filled with endless possibilities.”-Lau
If you’ve been following Brightly Black for a while then you’ll know by now already that all personal style outfit posts are published on Sundays at 11:11 CAT, but I was on the road yesterday driving from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town and naturally couldn’t. They say texting and driving is terrible, so you know there was no way I was going to attempt blogging and driving (lol, I feel like I’ve just made a lame mom-joke). But anyway, no worries, the weekly personal style post is here. Let’s get right into it!
I have decided to go for all things super chic and extremely simple this summer. I am currently in the process of reevaluating my fashion choices and working a bit more on my personal style and signature look. I feel like we all need to do that every now and again to keep things new and fresh. I have currently fallen in love with all things basic, neutral, and fabulously chic.
As soon as I saw this dress my heart skipped a couple of beats. Mainly because I was shocked by the fact that I had walked into Cotton On three days in a row and hadn’t even noticed it. Why was I walking into Cotton On over and over again three days in a row you may ask? Well, you may want to refresh your mind on the shopping tips I wrote about a while ago and specifically pay attention to tip number 5 where I spoke about how if you love something you need to let it go.
This dress is exactly what I had pictured when I was thinking about changing my style. Greys, nudes, browns, blacks, whites and all other beautiful and neutral colours are so trendy right now and I am more than loving it. The reason I love neutrals so much is that not only do they match among themselves, they also match with nearly any and every other colour on planet earth. Having a closet filled with neutrals is having a closet filled with endless possibilities.
And also please note that I use the word “trendy” in this case extremely loosely. Neutrals have been and will forever be a must-have. So don’t be deterred when you see the word trendy and think that it means that they will be in today and gone tomorrow.
I decided to pair my obsessed-to-death-dress with a pair of lace-up heels I got for a bargain at Mr Price because I felt that anything simpler would dull the outfit down and anything more colourful would be inappropriate and would not fit the overall desired relaxed look I was going for.
