Review: Woolworths Makeup Finishing Spray

Laurina Machite South African Beauty Blogger Woolworths Makeup Finishing Spray

Hello, my name is Laurina and I have annoyingly oily skin. I have talked about my struggles with my oily skin in previous posts and have written reviews on products I feel are great at combating that. such as my home-made lemon and sugar face scrub (read how to make it here), the Garnier 3 in 1 Pure Active Wash, Scrub and Mask (read review here) and the Garnier Even and Matte Clarifying Foam (read review here) and today I am here to tell you about another amazing product, Woolworths Makeup Finishing Spray.

If you have oily skin like me then you probably sometimes dread putting makeup on because try as you may, you can never quite prevent your makeup from looking oily and runny after just an hour of having it on, no matter how much powder you try to dab on your face. Before putting your makeup on you cleanse, prime and mattify your face to oil-less perfection but end up looking like you’ve just had oil sheen hairspray mixed with a blob of Vaseline poured on your face before you even arrive at your destination!

Woolworths Makeup Finishing Spray came into my life and absolutely changed my makeup game. If ever you have gotten ready to go on a night out with me then I have probably raved endlessly about my finishing spray while putting my makeup on (and have probably spritzed some on your face so you can also enjoy the wonderful benefits).

For just R89.95 a pop this is one of the cheapest finishing sprays out there (if not, then it most probably is the cheapest of them all). I first tried this one out because I wasn’t too sure about finishing/setting sprays and didn’t want to go around spending a fortune only to discover that finishing sprays were just another beauty fad that I really had no business getting involved in.

Long Lasting Makeup

Woolworths Makeup Finishing Spray is the ideal makeup product you need to help make sure your makeup makes it through your 09:00 to 17:00. No matter what foundation I had on I noticed a difference in how long my makeup lasted when I sprayed some finishing spray on my face after putting on all my makeup.

Matte Finish

If you have oily skin then matte skin is #goals and the Woolworths Makeup Finishing spray can help you achieve that. When you spray the lovely slightly-fragranced, chamomile extract and cucumber juice spray on your face and let it set it has a dewy look and feel and that is ideal for me on some days but not all.

In order to get my desired matte look I allow the spray to set for a couple of minutes and proceed to use tissue paper to dab and blot (not rub) my skin in order for that dewy look to disappear. If you are spraying this on your face before a night out of dancing and having fun you don’t have to worry about looking like a shine-bomb again. Simply use tissue paper to blot your face out throughout the night and you are good to go, no need to even worry about constantly applying powder.

I love this finishing spray so much that one time when I walked into Woolworths Walmer Park and they had (unsurprisingly) run out of stock the lady by the beauty section decided to give me a free pocket-sized sample to use while I waited for them to restock. I guess she could see the utter horror and disappointment on my face lol.

I would give this finishing spray a healthy and hearty 4/5. This being the only finishing spray I have ever really tried though this score may just be a bit biased, but I will stick with it. If you know of any other finishing/setting sprays you would love me to try please do let me know in the comments section below, I am so impressed with the Woolworths one that I am willing to try absolutely anything. Thank you in advance!

Hi there! I’m so glad I found this review, I wasn’t sure if I made the right decision ordering this but now I’m glad I did 🙂

I currently use the Loreal Infallible Fixing Mist and it’s the most amazing thing for keeping makeup in place and oil production to a minimum (I totally relate to your smeared Vaseline vibes!!). It is pricier than the Woolies one (about R185) but is definitely worth the money, smells beautiful as well
